Refund policy
All sales of sod and related products from American Sod Company are final. Sod is a live, perishable agricultural product that must be installed immediately upon delivery or pickup, and therefore we do not accept returns, exchanges, or restocking of any sod once it has left our possession. Risk of loss transfers to the customer at the time of delivery or pickup. Delivery or pickup dates may be rescheduled up to forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled fulfillment date, subject to product availability and scheduling capacity. Orders may be canceled for a refund up to seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled delivery or pickup time; however, all refunds are subject to deduction of credit card processing fees and any harvesting, cutting, or logistics costs already incurred. Cancellations made within seventy-two (72) hours of fulfillment are non-refundable.
American Sod Company warrants only that the sod will be viable and in commercially reasonable condition at the time of delivery or pickup. Any claim for defective sod must be submitted in writing within seven (7) calendar days of delivery or pickup and must include proof of purchase, photographs, and a description of installation and watering practices. If a claim is approved, the sole and exclusive remedy shall be replacement of the defective sod; refunds will not be issued. This limited warranty does not cover damage or loss resulting from improper installation, failure to water, over-watering, under-watering, soil or ground conditions, weather events, heat stress, frost, pests, fungus, disease, jobsite delays, storage after delivery, or any other conditions outside our control.
For pickup orders, customers are solely responsible for selecting an appropriate vehicle, trailer, and load capacity. As a courtesy, American Sod Company may assist with forklift loading; however, all loading is performed at the customer’s direction and risk. By accepting loading assistance, the customer assumes all liability for vehicle damage, suspension damage, trailer failure, load shifts, or transport loss, and American Sod Company shall bear no responsibility for such damage. Customers are responsible for inspecting all product prior to departure, and once product is loaded, the sale is final.
Due to the agricultural nature of sod, variations may occur in roll size, weight, moisture content, and coverage yield. Customers are responsible for measuring project areas accurately and ordering appropriate overage, typically five to ten percent (5–10%). No refunds or credits are issued for excess material. Customers receiving delivery must ensure safe and adequate jobsite access and a suitable unloading area. If delivery cannot be completed due to site conditions, product may be left at the nearest safe location or delivery may be rescheduled at the customer’s expense, without refund.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, American Sod Company’s liability is strictly limited to replacement of defective sod as provided herein. We shall not be liable for labor costs, installation costs, removal costs, project delays, lost profits, incidental damages, or consequential damages of any kind. Except for the limited warranty expressly stated above, all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are disclaimed. Sod is a natural farm product, and normal agricultural variation does not constitute a defect.
Approved refunds, when applicable for timely pre-delivery cancellations only, will be issued to the original method of payment, less applicable fees and incurred costs, and may take five to ten (5–10) business days to process. All claims must be submitted to the company’s designated claims email customerservice@buyamericansod.com with supporting documentation.
